This is a washed Colombian coffee that we have bought as a direct trade under the 121 scheme, with only 5 bags in existence. This means this coffee is exclusive to us worldwide and in very short supply.
Milciades Yonda is a pretty special lot which has scored highly (88) on the cupping table by the Q-Graders who tasted and selected it.
This coffee has flavour notes of baked apple, marmalade, nutmeg and juicy. It is complex, sweet and very juicy. We love this coffee!

Sr. Milciades Yonda is a member of the indigenous community of the Nasa ethnic group, and is a speaker of Nasayuwe representative of this community. Approximately 80,000 people are estimated to speak this language, mainly found in the Cauca region and considered to be threatened by linguists.
He lives with his wife and two children. Both male and female family members pick the ripe cherries and take them to the local beneficio for pulping the same day. The beans are fermented for 14 hours, washed three times in fresh water, and reduced to 11.5% moisture in a solar parabolic drier. The coffee is then taken to the CENCOIC facility in Popayan where they perform a quality analysis and prepare the coffee for export.
A whole host of trees grow on the farm, including guamo, ash, tachuelo, avocado, lemon and banana. The coffee pulp is composted and used as organic fertilizer on the banana and fruit trees, with eth mucilage being processed and used as fertilizer too. The farm is fair trade and café practices certified. They have been active members of CENCOIC since the beginning of 2015.
