Brazil - Soledade de Minas (Natural) - Filter
Soledade de Minas is a great example of the new wave of Brazilian coffees that present wildly different flavours to the nutty, chocolatey profile we all expect from a Brazil. It is very complex and presents a tropical, acidity driven profile more akin to coffees from Central American regions like Panama and Costa Rica.

Similar to the  Fazenda Esperanca (last years standout Brazilian filter) - Soledade de Minas also adopts a fresh approach to growing coffee - akin to ‘terroir’ in the wine industry is redefining how people view specialty coffee from Brazil.

Why did we buy this coffee?

We were looking for a Brazilian filter coffee that challenges expectations - this coffee reminds us of a sweeter, more balanced version of our much loved Fazenda Esperanca from last year.

What's good about it?

This coffee has a light, transparent body that really allows the notes of fresh strawberry and caramel to shine. While some natural Brazil’s can be intensely boozy, this coffee is very clean while being very complex. It is a firm favourite in our roastery!

What's the best way to prepare this coffee?

As a well rounded filter, Soledade de Minas is am amazingly flexible coffee. It works exceptionally well as a batch brew, but also stands up well across most pour over (Kalita, V60, Chemex etc) or full immersion (Aeropress, Cafetiere, Clever etc) methods.

Flavour notes:

Caramel, Strawberry, and Walnut with a descriptor of Smooth.

We roast on Tue & Wed. Your coffee will be roasted within 5 days of purchase, with a shelf life of 6 weeks (optimum serving point of 10-36 days).

Background info:

Fazenda Santa Rosa is located in the area of Soledade de Minas. The tropical climate, well drained soils and the modern processing facilities make the Santa Rosa Estate a model for the production of specialty coffee in Brazil. Acquired in 1986 by the present owners, it was an uncultivated area at the time. Today the property has 90 hectares of plantations implanted. Acaiá, Catuaí and Icatú Amarelo are the varieties of coffee grown today.
