Brazil - Mãe da Água (Natural) - Espresso

Mae de Agua is an excellent example of a reliably smooth and balanced Brazil. It displays all the characteristics of a great Brazilian coffee while presenting an interesting sweetness and a delicate acidity. If you are looking for a solid, repeatable coffee for espresso, this is the coffee for you.

Why did we buy this coffee?

We cupped around 30 different Brazils in our search for a new single origin espresso. Mae de Agua stood out to us immediately due to its very clean and smooth profile.

What's good about it?

Mae de Agua has a sugary sweet note of white chocolate that really lifts this coffee above most other Brazil’s. It is an exceptional espresso, standing out as particularly sweet and moreish as a flat white. This is a low acidity coffee so it also works very well with plant based milks.

What machines can I make this coffee on?

Due to it's flexible nature, it works well in all kinds of espresso machines, whether you have a high end setup such as a Rocket, Marzocco, Expobar (Pro-Sumer) or the likes of a Rancilio Silvia, Gaggia Classic, De'Longhi or Dualit.

Don't have an espresso machine?

This coffee will also work well in a Cafetiere, Clever Dripper or Aeropress, offering you a full bodied full immersion coffee. Mae de Agua also works superbly well as a batch brewed filter.

We roast on Tue, Wed & Thurs. Your coffee will be roasted within 5 days of purchase, with a shelf life of 6 weeks (optimum serving point of 10-36 days).

Background info:

Mr Antônio Kastrup works and lives in Rio de Janeiro and acquired this property in Conceição do Rio Verde with the purpose of entering the coffee industry. He recently planted shaded coffees within the farm’s mahogany trees and avocados. Organic compost from his milk production is used for fertilisation and maintains a good level of organic matters in the soil.
